Benchmarking the Finance and Accounting Function
This thought leadership piece started as a way to allow businesses determine if their finance and accounting departments were understaffed by comparing them to other companies via an industry survey. While moderately popular each year, my team developed an interactive calculator to pair with the report which resulted in increased revenue nearing half a million dollars when launched.

The interactive tool allowed users to enter in their accounting and finance department details (headcount) and give recommendations based on how they compared with other corporations.
What we learned:
Users found the ability to customize their own details so useful, it was key in their decision to increase headcount: this tool was responsible for a half a million dollars in revenue.
Additional info pulled from the calculator helped populate consecutive yearly reports with access to the new data source of the tool’s users.
Calculator functionality is planned to incorporate other lines of business to allow further access to user data and revenue.
